To verify your residential address, we can only accept statements from specific financial institutions that conduct robust identity and address checks.
These strict requirements ensure the address provided has been independently verified, confirming that you genuinely reside there. Adhering to these criteria allows us to remain fully compliant with regulatory standards established by HMRC, Companies House, and Trading Standards.
Acceptable Statements
To be approved, your document must meet all of the following criteria:
Account Type: Must be a current account showing at least 1 month of active transactions.
Recency: Must be issued within the last 3 months.
Eligible Institutions: Must be issued by a major UK high-street bank or building society, including:
Barclays
HSBC
Lloyds Banking Group
Nationwide Building Society
NatWest Group
Santander UK
Unacceptable Documents
We cannot accept any of the following:
Credit card statements
Savings account statements
Statements from digital-only or challenger banks
Statements issued more than 3 months ago
Accounts with little to no transaction history
Documents that are cropped, edited, obscured, or partially redacted in any way
Why Are These Rules in Place?
Current Accounts Reflect Active Residency
Current accounts capture everyday financial activity—such as salary deposits, utility payments, rent, and routine purchases. Frequent transactions demonstrate that the account is in active use and directly tied to your living arrangements.
Savings Accounts Are Less Informative
Savings accounts typically feature irregular or minimal activity, making them far less reliable for confirming continuous residency.
Traditional High-Street Banks Perform Rigorous Verification
Major UK high-street banks execute thorough identity and address checks prior to opening an account. This rigorous vetting makes their statements highly dependable for proof-of-address verification. By contrast, digital-only or challenger banks may apply different documentation and verification protocols, meaning we cannot accept them for address verification purposes.
Document Integrity & Alternative Proofs
All submitted documents must be displayed in full, unedited, and completely legible. We are unable to accept statements where personal or transaction details have been covered or hidden, as full visibility is required to complete verification.
If you prefer not to share a bank statement due to privacy or sensitive financial data, you are welcome to provide an alternative proof of address, such as:
A utility bill (gas, electricity, water, or broadband)
A mortgage statement
A UK council tax bill
These alternatives satisfy our compliance checks while keeping your private transaction history confidential.
